I'm fundraising for the future of hospitality.
After setting up Chefoholics Recruitment 13 years ago, I’ve been fortunate to make a comfortable living placing chefs in both permanent and temporary roles with clients across the UK. The hospitality industry has given me so much, and taking on this fundraiser for The Burnt Chef Project is my way of giving something meaningful back to the people at its heart. I’ll be taking on the National Three Peaks Challenge, which involves climbing the highest mountains in England (Scafell Pike), Wales (Snowdon) and Scotland (Ben Nevis)—all within 24 hours. It’s a tough physical and mental challenge, but one I feel strongly motivated to complete. Now at 55, this challenge is also a personal one. Staying fit has never been more important, and hiking has always been incredibly beneficial for my mental health. The Burnt Chef Project does vital work supporting mental wellbeing in hospitality, and I’m proud to support a cause that aligns so closely with my own values and experiences. Any support you can give would be hugely appreciated—thank you for helping me make a difference.

Scafell Pike 2nd of the 3 peaks
Wednesday 7th JanThe Burnt Chef Project is a UK-based social enterprise dedicated to tackling mental health stigma within the hospitality industry. It raises awareness of the pressures faced by chefs and hospitality workers—such as long hours, high stress, and burnout—while promoting open conversations about mental wellbeing. Through education, events, and fundraising initiatives, the project encourages individuals and businesses to prioritise mental health, seek support when needed, and create healthier, more sustainable working environments across the industry.
In England, the highest peak tackled during the National Three Peaks Challenge is Scafell Pike, standing at 978 metres in the Lake District National Park. The most commonly used walking route is the Wasdale Head path, which is the shortest but also one of the steepest and most rugged ascents. Starting from Wasdale Head, walkers climb via Brown Tongue and Hollow Stones before reaching the summit, navigating rocky terrain and potentially challenging weather conditions. This route demands good fitness, careful navigation, and strong teamwork, making it a key physical and mental test within the overall Three Peaks Challenge.
Scafell Pike has a rich history and has long been valued for both its natural beauty and national significance. In 1919, the mountain was donated to the National Trust as a memorial to those who lost their lives in the First World War, making it a place of remembrance as well as adventure. The Wasdale walking route, traditionally used by early climbers and shepherds, has become the most popular path to the summit due to its direct approach.
Having run Chefoholics Recruitment for 13 years, I’ve built my career supporting chefs across the UK. This fundraiser for The Burnt Chef Project is my way of giving back to the hospitality industry that has supported me throughout my journey.
