I'm fundraising for the future of hospitality.

I am raising money for The Burnt Chef Project, an organisation dedicated to breaking the stigma around mental health in hospitality and providing support for those who need it most

👉 Did you know that 4 out of 5 hospitality professionals report experiencing at least one mental health issue during their career?

This is a cause that is deeply personal to me. Two years ago, I lost my younger brother, Ian, to suicide. Life has never been the same since. Ian was a talented chef living in Tenerife for almost 20 years. I often wonder why he didn’t, or perhaps felt he couldn’t, reach out for help. I will never know the answer to that, but I do know that I am more determined than ever to do all I can to prevent another family from going through the same pain

By supporting my fundraising efforts, you will be helping The Burnt Chef Project provide vital education, resources, and support to those struggling in silence. Together, we can make sure no one feels alone in this battle. I will be running 358km (a virtual lap of Tenerife) in 28 days, starting on Wednesday 1st October finishing on Tuesday 28th October which would have been Ian’s 46th Birthday

🖤 Please join me in honouring Ian’s memory by making a pledge today. Your contribution big or small will help save lives

Training Update

Tuesday 23rd Sep

Last week, I realised that alongside the obvious physical and mental challenges of training, I’ll also have to contend with the ever-changing weather. In just a few days I experienced it all: strong winds, an unexpected burst of heat, and short, sharp showers!

Running into headwind is no joke 💨🍃, it really does slow you down. What’s frustrating is that no matter how long you battle against it, there never seems to be a tailwind waiting on the other side to balance things out.

The heat on Friday completely drained me 😎. I struggled to push through, and choosing a new route across fields, with plenty of ups and downs, only added to the challenge. The good news is I probably won’t need to worry too much about high temperatures in October, as the average sits between 13–15°C, dropping slightly as the month progresses.

And then there’s the rain 🌧️☂️. Being wet and cold was uncomfortable enough, but when the rain mixed with sweat and dripped into my eyes, it became downright miserable. Still, it looks like I’ll need to get used to it, October is one of the wettest months, averaging 10–13 rainy days.

Please keep those donations coming in, every bit of support makes a huge difference. thank you again for being part of this journey 🖤

Training Update

Wednesday 10th Sep

Thank you all so much for the support, it genuinely keeps me motivated! 🖤

Training has been going well, but as I’ve pushed the distance up, I keep hitting a wall around the 10.4–10.6km mark. Breaking through that barrier has been tough, and I know the real challenge ahead will be as much mental as it is physical.

I’ve been paying close attention to my warm-ups, cool-downs, recovery, and nutrition to set myself up for success… though I’ll admit, cutting out Haribo has probably been the hardest part 🤣

To keep things interesting during the challenge, I will be mixing up my routes, mainly around Luton, Hertford, Hitchin, Stevenage, and Milton Keynes. I’m even planning to pass a few McMullen’s pubs along the way, and I might just “re-hydrate” at one or two 🍻

Please keep those donations coming in, every bit of support makes a huge difference. Thank you again for being part of this journey! 🖤
