I'm fundraising for the future of hospitality.
This June I will be cycling the length of Wales from Cardiff to Holyhead to raise money for The Burnt Chef Project!
I'm aiming to complete the 250 mile journey over four days (24th - 27th June) and am hoping to raise at least £250 for the fantastic folks at Burnt Chef so they can keep doing the great work that they do - offering education, support, and resources to tackle mental health stigma in the food industry.
My good friends at Crustum Chester are supporting me in this endeavour, and are truly some of the friendliest and most kind-hearted people I've had the pleasure of working with, so do pop in to and show them some love at New Chester Market while treating yourself to a delicious breakfast or brunch!
Anything you can give will surely go to great use and give me an extra push up those Welsh mountains!
4 out of 5 workers in the food industry report having experienced at least one mental health issue during their career.
The current reality is that a large proportion of the food industry community has, or will, experience a mental health issue as a direct result of chronic stress, stigma and lack of support.
In worst case scenarios this can also lead to loss of life with hospitality having one of the highest rates of suicide against other professions.
We have to change that. The Burnt Chef Project is a globally recognised not-for-profit Social Enterprise and we are fully committed to making the food industry healthier and more sustainable by focusing on people's wellbeing first by providing free supporting structures, awareness campaigns supported by market-leading training and education.
