I'm running a half marathon for the future of hospitality.
I'm raising money for The Burnt Chef Project and need your help!
4 out of 5 hospitality professionals report having experienced at least one mental health issue during their career.
The current reality is that a large proportion of the hospitality community has, or will, experience a mental health issue as a direct result of chronic stress, stigma and lack of support.
In worst case scenarios this can also lead to loss of life with hospitality having one of the highest rates of suicide against other professions.
We have to change that. The Burnt Chef Project is a globally recognised not-for-profit Social Enterprise and we are fully committed to making the hospitality profession healthier and more sustainable by focusing on people's wellbeing first by providing free supporting structures, awareness campaigns supported by market-leading training and education.
I have worked in and around the hospitality sector for close to two decades and have seen first hand the struggles people in this often under-appreciated industry go through. When I first started out in the industry there was little to no support for people who were struggling, and it is thanks to projects like The Burnt Chef Project that individuals can find support.
To raise money for The Burnt Chef Project, I will be running the Berkhamsted Half Marathon; an incredibly gruelling and undulating half marathon, which I will be running for the second time in 2026. In 2025, I managed to navigate the hills in 01:45:45, and I am determined this year to cross the finish line in under one hour and 45 minutes.
