I've created this page in memory of my little brother.
My brother was an incredible person and was suddenly taken from this world at the age of 28.
He was a Chef who, like a lot of people working in the Hospitality Industry, worked long hours and had high standards.
We still have many unanswered questions surrounding his cause of death, but this industry did definitely change him.
As a family, we saw the stresses and pressures he was suffering from and felt helpless to do anything about it as it was ‘his job’ - which he was very passionate about.
I’ve created this page in his honour and memory, but it’s also something we can use to remind all of our friends and family working in this industry that ‘we see you’.
Next time you go out for dinner or drinks, take a moment to think about your Server, your Chef or the General Manager currently on shift, and say ‘thank you’.
They sacrifice a lot, to provide you a few hours of enjoyment and to ‘save you from the washing up’.

I am so sorry for your loss, Abi. There are no right words, but only right actions. The awareness on the mental health issues in hospitality should raise concerns regarding our level of humanity, and what the people in this industry are actually doing to shape a healthy working enviroment. I think that research should put this context under the spotlight more and more so it would add the right level of pressure that is so highly needed to make a change.
